ORLANDO, Fla. – May 7, 2019 – Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, today announced that Special Olympics Florida, in partnership with Walt Disney World Resort and HPE, will deploy an Aruba Wi-Fi network at its 9th annual Special Olympics Golf Invitational taking place May 9 and 10, 2019.

The Invitational, located on Disney’s Palm and Magnolia Golf Courses, will bring together more than 500 colleagues, associates and sponsors to benefit the 53,000 athletes served by Special Olympics Florida. The funds raised at this event are critical to ensuring that these athletes have the opportunity to experience personal athletic triumphs as they shatter the stereotypes surrounding people with disabilities. Over the past eight years, the Invitational has generated more than $5.5 million, enabling Special Olympics Florida to add new services and reach more athletes.

To deliver secure mobile experiences for the participants and sponsors, Aruba, along with partner Presidio Solutions, deployed Aruba indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access points (APs) and access switches to provide connectivity in key locations across the course, such as the clubhouse, putting green and first tee box. The network will enable attendees to stay seamlessly connected and interact on social media throughout the event.

“We are thankful for HPE and Aruba’s support of Special Olympics Florida and our annual Golf Invitational by providing enhanced Wi-Fi throughout the facilities,” said Sherry Wheelock, President and CEO at Special Olympics Florida. “With this Wi-Fi capability, our organization will be able to increase our on-site fundraising activities and offer our supporters an improved event experience. This event raises crucial funds for the athletes of Special Olympics Florida, and the long-standing support of HPE continues to help make this possible.”
